Summer Term (1) 2009

We have had a busy and productive half term and are looking forward to the first of this term’s ACORN days on Friday. This will be a lovely way of enabling pupils to develop their creativity, whilst working on the theme of ‘Nature’.

We are very pleased to announce the arrival of Mrs Johnson’s baby daughter, Evey.  Willow Class have been very excited to see some photos of the new baby.  We would all like to offer Mrs Johnson our warmest  congratulations.

Mrs Finighan and the children have now almost completed decorating the wellies.  They look fantastic and once planted, will make a lovely display to enhance the school. The children have really enjoyed participating in this project and we would like to thank Mrs Finighan very much for her time. The children have enjoyed the weekly swimming lessons at Monmouth Comprehensive School.  We would like to thank them for their excellent behaviour – they are a great credit to the school.

Following last week’s  SATs, Year 6 pupils went to St Weonard’s for a lovely afternoon, where they were treated to a buffet lunch and an afternoon of fun and games.  The afternoon was much enjoyed by  everyone and we would like to thank the PTFA for helping to fund this enjoyable trip. Miss Parkinson is busy organising our Year 6 football final against Gorsley, which will be played next half term. She is also hoping to organise a Junior rounders tournament.

Llangrove Eco-Warriors would like to say a big thank you to everyone who collected the Morrison’s ‘Let’s Grow’ vouchers.  We have been able to purchase garden gloves, a foldable wheelbarrow, garden hosepipe, watering cans and most importantly a water butt to help us collect water for our vegetable and herb raised beds.  The Eco-Warriors have been working very hard with Mrs Riddell during their lunchtimes and the vegetable plot is beginning to grow.

As half-term approaches, I would personally like to thank all parents, pupils, staff and Governors for the warm   welcome they have extended to both myself and Miss Parkinson in our first term at the school.  We have found Llangrove CE Primary School to be a lovely, friendly environment in which to work and look forward to continuing to work in close partnership with you all.

I would like to take this opportunity of wishing you all a pleasant half term break.  We look forward to seeing you next half term  - hopefully along with some sunny weather!
